Michelle thrives under pressure. For more than 20 years she has worked with a variety of major companies and organizations to create awareness of their programs, build understanding around issues and promote their wares. Her proven planning, media handling, exceptional writing skills, and boundless energy have helped her develop innovative and integrated marketing and communications solutions that deliver solid results for clients. In addition to leading the consulting team at Shift for the past nine years, she holds a part-time faculty position at Banff Centre, where she facilitates team building sessions and delivers leadership training programs.
Prior to opening the doors at Shift Consulting, Michelle led the Marketing and Communications team at the Town of Banff. Working for one of the biggest brands in the world proved to be a thrilling experience, and she drew heavily upon her earlier career experiences, particularly her four-year tenure as Account Director for the Brand Integrity Group at DDB Canada.
Michelle has a BPA, Communications Major from Athabasca University (2005), a diploma in Advertising and Public Relations from MacEwan University (1995) and her professional accreditation from the International Association of Business Communicators (1999). She recently studied under the supervision of two Harvard Professors to earn her certification as a coach and facilitator of the Immunity to Change method, offered through Minds at Work in Boston, MA.
On a volunteer basis, Michelle served as a Program Director on IABC’s International Accreditation Council, is a past president of IABC Edmonton, and served as Professional Development Chair for IABC Canada. Prior to moving to Banff, she served two terms on the Advisory Council for the Public Relations Program at MacEwan University. She is also a published author, travel writer, and part-time adventure seeker.
